Wake up to the infinite wisdom of the body
Sense your way to freedom
We are so much more than the limits of our beliefs and what we think we know about ourselves. And so much more than the pain that we feel. I’m Gena Rho, a clinical somatic educator (CSE). With a deep background in movement and how the body holds the truth that may be unconscious, held in our painful or numb body, I work with you to offer a sensory experience of your potential freedom, beyond the limits of your mind.

A four week course

To have beauty available as a habit in our mouths is a skill not generally cultivated; to speak and invoke poetry that is appropriate and nourishing in the moment. For fragments of a poem to find their way into your language, that poem must be nestled into the bed of your heart, given love and care as it decides to stay a good long while. In a time bereft of capacity to witness beauty, committing poetry to heart is a way to bring it in. It’s a discipline to have beautiful thoughts circling in your head instead of the more common and often caustic ones.
Pandiculation is a method of reconnection to the fullness of being human and to sensing more. While we commonly use pandiculation in a somatic movement practice to relieve muscle tension or to regain control, we also wake up our sensory awareness. We become more available for the nourishment and beauty of words. Pandiculation can be used to tap into playful explorations and creativity.
In these four weeks, you will learn principles of memorization, a method drawn from years of research, applicable to both poetry and prose, helping long- and short-term memory.
This is not a course in poetry analysis or discussion of meaning, though snippets might show up. The focus is on the skills of memorization, recitation, oration, elocution, listening, play, aliveness, and sharing and how that tracks into the body of the individual and the relational body - even online!
